On March 1th 2024, the French Institute of Cameroon hosted a moving
theatrical show entitled “Chemin de Fer”. A work by the artist Julien
Mabiala Bissila, winner of the RFI Theater Prize in 2014. This
masterful artistic performance takes the audience through the twists
and turns of the 1997 war in Brazzaville, accurately describing the
reversal of values and the madness of the men who resulted from this.
With poignant staging and remarkable acting, " Chemin de fer " offered
a
deep dive into the human soul in times of conflict. Actor Julien
Mabiala Bissila succeeds in transporting spectators to the heart of the
tragic events that shook the city ofBrazzaville in 1997, through a
moving and authentic testimony of this dark period in history. Julien
Mabiala Bissila, through his talent and artistic sensitivity, manages
to capture the very essence of war and its devastating consequences.
His work highlights the broken destinies, the disrupted lives and the
inner conflicts that forever marked the inhabitants of Brazzaville
during this sad period.
" Chemin de fer " not only tells the story of the 1997 war. The book
also
explores the universal themes of violence, compassion, resilience and
hope and provokes viewers to think on human nature, the fragility of
society and the need to preserve peace and solidarity.
This performance is much more than a simple theatrical spectacle: it is
a profound artistic and emotional experience, which leaves an indelible
imprint on the minds of those who are lucky enough to attend it. The
writing and interpretation of Julien Mabiala Bissila reminds us of the
strength and fragility of Humanity, and invites us to reflect on the
past to better build the future.
